VAST Data and Hyperfusion Partner to Accelerate AI Infrastructure Deployment

VAST Data, known for its AI Operating System, and Hyperfusion, a provider of modular AI data centers and cloud services, have announced a strategic partnership to accelerate the deployment of AI infrastructure. The collaboration will see VAST Data's AI Operating System (AI OS) integrated as the preferred data platform within Hyperfusion's Sentinel modular AI data centers. This joint offering is designed to enable customers to bring sovereign, production-ready AI inference capabilities online in a matter of weeks, a significant reduction from the years typically required for conventional data center build-outs.
Details
The core of this partnership lies in integrating the VAST AI OS into Hyperfusion's Sentinel platform, a factory-commissioned AI data center housed within a single transportable 45-foot ISO High Cube container. A reference configuration for Sentinel includes 96 GPUs and approximately two to three petabytes of data capacity. Hyperfusion also offers HyperPod for larger, multi-megawatt deployments, scaling up to approximately 20 petabytes. This modular approach allows for AI infrastructure to be deployed wherever power and operational requirements are met, addressing the critical bottleneck of physical infrastructure that often lags behind GPU availability. The Sentinel platform supports confidential computing, ensuring models and data remain protected while in use, and can operate in fully air-gapped environments if necessary. Data will remain in-country and under customer control, with Sentinel and HyperPod deployments capable of sharing a single global namespace.
Context
The announcement highlights a growing challenge in the AI industry: the mismatch between the rapid availability of GPUs and the slower pace of traditional data center construction, which requires significant power and cooling infrastructure. "AI investment is increasingly colliding with a physical infrastructure constraint: GPUs can often be secured faster than the power, cooling and data center capacity needed to operate them," the press release states. Hyperfusion's modular, containerized approach directly tackles this issue by enabling deployment around existing power sources. VAST Data's contribution focuses on providing a data platform that scales seamlessly, ensuring that each new deployment integrates cleanly with existing infrastructure, preventing the creation of isolated data silos.
Impact
This collaboration is poised to significantly impact organizations requiring rapid and secure AI deployment, particularly in sectors like government, enterprise, telecommunications, and energy. By reducing deployment times from years to weeks, VAST Data and Hyperfusion are enabling faster time-to-value for AI initiatives. The emphasis on sovereign AI and confidential computing addresses critical concerns around data residency and security. "Every government and enterprise we speak to wants the same three things: capacity now, data that never leaves their control, and a platform that grows without starting over," said Quentin Reyes, Founder & CEO of Hyperfusion. This offering directly meets those demands, allowing for scalable AI inference closer to users, enterprise data, or available power sources.
What's Next
VAST Data and Hyperfusion are initiating joint go-to-market activities, including customer introductions and opportunity support. Technical validation of VAST AI OS within Hyperfusion's Sentinel and HyperPod architectures is underway. The companies also plan to explore a common control plane for managing distributed Sentinel deployments across multiple sites, further enhancing the manageability of these modular AI data centers.
